New Delhi: In a significant move just ahead of Diwali, the central government has announced a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. This decision, taken during a cabinet meeting, raises the DA from 50% to 53%, offering financial relief to over one crore government employees and pensioners.

Dearness Allowance is provided to government employees and pensioners to offset the impact of inflation. This allowance, revised twice a year, is based on the latest consumer price index for industrial workers, ensuring that employees receive compensation for rising living costs.
