Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has directed the state government to grant the benefit of arrears, along with increased wages, to Home Guard personnel from August 25, 2017. The court’s directive came during a hearing on a contempt petition filed by the Home Guard personnel. The court further warned that if the arrears are not provided by January 5, contempt proceedings will be initiated against responsible officials.

Justice Dr. S. N. Pathak presided over the hearing. It was emphasized that the Home Guard personnel are to be paid equal wages on par with police personnel for equal work, starting from the date when the court initially passed its order. The information was shared by Rajiv Kumar Tiwari, the state secretary of the Jharkhand Home Guard Welfare Association, during the court session.
