New Delhi: The Delhi Police have contacted messaging platform Telegram, seeking information regarding a pro-Khalistani channel that claimed responsibility for the blast near a CRPF school in Prashant Vihar, Rohini, on Monday. The explosion, which damaged a section of the school wall and nearby property, did not result in any injuries.
Investigations are focusing on a possible Khalistani connection after a post appeared on Telegram from the group “Justice League India,” claiming that the blast was in retaliation for alleged actions against pro-Khalistan separatists by Indian agents. The authorities are awaiting a response from Telegram regarding the details of the channel.
On Sunday evening, the group shared a video of the explosion on their Telegram channel with a “Khalistan Zindabad” watermark, accompanied by a message threatening retaliation against any perceived targeting of their members by Indian authorities.
Delhi Police sources confirmed that the blast was caused by a low-intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED) controlled remotely. The device caused significant damage to the school wall, shattered windows of nearby buildings, and damaged several vehicles, with the sound of the explosion heard hundreds of meters away.
Top police officials suggested that the attack was likely a warning to the authorities, as forensic teams, along with personnel from the NIA, NSG, CRPF, and Delhi Police, continue to gather evidence from the scene.
