New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday claimed that party convenor Arvind Kejriwal was attacked during his ‘padyatra’ in the Vikaspuri area of Delhi. Chief Minister Atishi alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) orchestrated the attack, accusing the party of attempting to eliminate Kejriwal as it fears losing to AAP in the upcoming elections.

During a press conference, Atishi condemned BJP’s alleged tactics and described the incident as a dangerous escalation of “dirty politics.” She claimed that BJP members had planned the attack on Kejriwal and that, over the past two years, BJP has harassed the AAP leader with false cases and withheld essential medication during his imprisonment. Atishi highlighted that BJP even denied Kejriwal insulin while he was in jail despite his 30-year history of diabetes, and it was only after protests and court intervention that he received his medication. She warned that if anything happened to Kejriwal, the people of Delhi would not forgive the BJP.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal addressed Delhi residents during his Vikaspuri padyatra, cautioning them about potential power cuts and increased electricity bills if BJP wins in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, however, dismissed AAP’s accusations as “baseless.” Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva responded by stating that AAP’s allegations were merely a ploy to gain sympathy. He added that when people inquired about issues like polluted water, Kejriwal labeled it as a BJP-sponsored attack, accusing AAP of misrepresenting the situation to generate support.
