Washington D.C.: Vice President Kamala Harris, speaking from the Ellipse lawn in Washington D.C., where former President Donald Trump delivered his January 6, 2021 speech, issued a stern warning to the American people about the dangers she believes a second Trump presidency could pose. As the presidential race enters its final week, Harris highlighted her concerns about Trump’s pursuit of “unchecked power,” describing him as “unstable, obsessed with revenge, consumed with grievance.” The event, which drew over 75,000 attendees, underscored her stance as the election nears.
Accusing Trump of having “sent an armed mob” to the Capitol to sabotage the 2020 election results, Harris recounted her own journey of living the “American dream.” “Growing up, I was blessed to have family by blood and family by love, who instilled in me values of community, compassion, and faith,” she said. Harris also expressed gratitude to President Joe Biden, emphasizing that, if elected, she intends to bring “her own experiences and ideas” to the Oval Office.
Donald Trump has spent a decade trying to keep people divided and afraid of each other. That is who he is.

“My presidency will be different,” Harris said, pointing to economic challenges that have persisted since before the pandemic. “Our top priority four years ago was to end the pandemic and rescue the economy. Now our biggest challenge is to lower costs.” Harris urged Americans to “turn the page” on Trump’s influence in U.S. politics, highlighting the need for new leadership.
As Election Day approaches on November 5, Harris maintains a narrow 1% lead in the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, a tight margin as both parties make their final appeals to voters.
