Ranchi: BJP State President Babulal Marandi has criticized the Jharkhand government, highlighting a leadership gap due to the unfilled Chief Secretary position. Marandi noted in a social media post that the former Chief Secretary, L. Khiyangte, retired on Thursday, yet the government has not appointed anyone to this crucial role, which he termed an “extreme level of administrative negligence.”

In his post, Marandi emphasized, “As a former Chief Minister, I understand that all files are routed to the Chief Minister through the Chief Secretary. In exceptional situations, even if a Chief Minister leaves office, an acting CM is appointed to ensure governance remains uninterrupted. However, in Jharkhand, the government has made a mockery of constitutional responsibilities, leaving the Chief Secretary’s office vacant during such a critical and sensitive period as the elections.”

Marandi has called upon the Election Commission to take immediate cognizance of this matter and ensure that the constitutional framework is strictly adhered to in Jharkhand. He asserted that running the state without a Chief Secretary during the election period is a violation of governance protocols, urging the Commission to act swiftly to restore order.
