Ranchi: Following the Election Commission’s directive, Amber Lakra has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Deoghar. Lakra, who previously served as Commandant at JAP-3 in Govindpur, Dhanbad, was assigned to the position after delays from the state government in executing the Commission’s orders.
The Election Commission had ordered the removal of Ajit Peter Dungdung from the Deoghar SP post on October 29. However, the state initially did not comply, as the Home, Jail, and Disaster Management Department failed to send a list of candidates for the position within the three-day period. Dungdung continued in his role during this time, prompting the Election Commission to issue a reminder on Sunday to expedite the matter.
In response, the state submitted a panel on Monday, which included Amber Lakra, Sarojini Lakra, and Manish Toppo. Following the Election Commission’s review, Amber Lakra was confirmed as the new Deoghar SP, and an official notification was issued on Tuesday.
