Jaipur: A devastating fire erupted early Wednesday morning following a collision between two trucks near a petrol pump on Ajmer Road in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, leaving at least five people dead and 35 others injured. The incident occurred around 5:30 am when a CNG tanker parked near the petrol pump caught fire after a chemical-laden truck collided with other vehicles nearby.
Critical Rescue Operations Underway
Emergency teams are actively working to douse the fire, which has engulfed several vehicles parked in the vicinity. Several of the injured are in critical condition and have been rushed to nearby hospitals. Rescue operations are ongoing to locate more potential victims trapped in the blaze.
Visuals from the scene show towering flames and dense black smoke visible from kilometers away. Multiple vehicles, including cars and trucks, were reduced to ashes in the inferno.
“The fire has engulfed several trucks. Burn injury victims have been taken to hospitals, and rescue operations are continuing,” said Manish Gupta, Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhankrota.
Chief Minister Visits Victims
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited SMS Hospital to meet the injured and expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the gas tanker fire incident on the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway. Rescue efforts are ongoing, and necessary medical care is being provided to the injured,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
Tragic Parallel Incident
