New Delhi: The winter session of Parliament was marked by innovative protest methods by the opposition, particularly Congress, as they raised issues ranging from the Adani bribery case to attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. Using symbolic props such as bags, jackets, and masks, the opposition sought to spotlight their allegations and grievances against the BJP-led government.

Priyanka Gandhi’s Eye-Catching Protest Bags

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in her debut session as an MP, grabbed headlines with her protest bags. On December 10, she carried a bag with the message “Modi Adani Bhai Bhai,” featuring images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gautam Adani.

Later, on December 16, her tote bag bearing “Palestine” signaled support for Palestinians amid the Israel-Gaza conflict. She followed this with another bag displaying solidarity with minorities in Bangladesh, stating, “Stand with the Hindus and Christians of Bangladesh.”

On the concluding day, BJP countered by presenting Priyanka a bag emblazoned with “1984,” referencing the anti-Sikh riots.

Blue Symbolism for Ambedkar Protests

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a symbolic statement by donning a blue shirt, representing the Dalit movement, during protests against Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on BR Ambedkar. Congress MPs joined him, wearing blue hues, as they marched from Ambedkar’s statue to Parliament’s entrance, demanding Shah’s resignation.

Adani Bribery Case: Persistent Opposition Protests

The Congress, alongside INDIA bloc allies, staged daily protests over the US indictment of Gautam Adani in a bribery and fraud case. Tactics included mock interviews, distributing roses to BJP MPs, and wearing black jackets with slogans like “Modi Adani Ek Hai.”

Rahul Gandhi conducted a satirical “interview” with Congress MPs wearing Modi and Adani masks, keeping the controversy in the spotlight.
