New Delhi: A British woman, who came to India for a vacation, was allegedly raped by a man she met on Instagram at a hotel in Mahipalpur, Delhi. The police have arrested the accused, Kailash, while his friend, Wasim, has been booked for molestation.
Incident Details
According to the police:
• The woman had arrived in India for a holiday in Maharashtra and Goa.
• She befriended Kailash on Instagram and was in touch with him.
• While in Goa, she contacted Kailash and asked him to join her.
• Kailash refused to travel but invited her to Delhi instead.
• The woman reached Delhi on Tuesday and checked into a hotel in Mahipalpur.
• After her arrival, she called Kailash, who came to meet her at the hotel with his friend Wasim.
• That night, Kailash allegedly raped her, while Wasim is accused of molestation.
Complaint and Arrest
• The next morning, the woman approached the Vasant Kunj police station and lodged a complaint.
• The Delhi Police arrested Kailash and registered a case of rape, while Wasim was charged with molestation.
• Following protocol, the police have informed the British High Commission, which is assisting the UK national in the case.
Additional Findings
• Kailash reportedly works at a private firm.
• The woman told police that he struggled to speak English and used Google Translate to communicate with her.
The police investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
