New Delhi: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai has held Chief Minister Siddaramaiah morally responsible for the ongoing honeytrap scandal, claiming it has severely tarnished the state’s image and exposed the Congress-led government’s ethical bankruptcy. Speaking to the media on Friday in the national capital, Bommai demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation, stating that the scandal erupted under his administration’s nose.

According to Bommai, the Congress government in Karnataka is facing a complete “moral and financial collapse.” “This is no longer just a government in crisis – it is a criminal cabinet. In just two years, at least ten scandals have come to light. Now, with even ministers admitting to honeytrap attempts in the legislative assembly, the situation is beyond repair,” he said.

Bommai slammed the Chief Minister’s silence over the past 15 days, despite the matter being raised in the Assembly. He alleged that Siddaramaiah is turning a blind eye to protect those involved. “If such incidents are taking place within the cabinet itself, what credibility does the government have left? Siddaramaiah must take moral responsibility and resign,” he added.

‘48 Honeytrap CDs Exist,’ Says Minister Rajanna

Bommai also responded to Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna’s claim that 48 CDs related to the honeytrap case exist. “If the minister has more information, he must hand over all details for a proper investigation. Regardless of the party, anyone involved should face legal consequences,” Bommai said, demanding a judicial probe under a sitting or retired High Court judge.

Siddaramaiah Denies Shielding Anyone

Meanwhile, CM Siddaramaiah categorically denied any intention of shielding those involved in the scandal. Addressing the Assembly, he said, “Home Minister G Parameshwara has already responded to Minister Rajanna’s remarks. If a formal complaint is filed, the government will ensure a high-level investigation and justice will prevail.”

Siddaramaiah also dismissed demands for immediate action based on mere allegations. “No names have been officially mentioned. Without concrete evidence, action cannot be taken. But rest assured, no one involved in such acts will be protected,” he added.

Opposition Demands Judicial Probe

Leader of Opposition R Ashoka and MLAs Araga Jnanendra and Sunil Kumar joined the call for a judicial inquiry and demanded the dismissal of those found guilty. “This government must be held accountable. The CM must answer to the people and the Assembly,” Ashoka said.

As the scandal draws nationwide attention, Bommai warned that if Siddaramaiah fails to act, the people of Karnataka may come to regret electing such a government.
