Ranchi/Bokaro: In a telling sign of fear and detachment, no family member turned up to claim the bodies of eight slain Naxals, including ₹1 crore bounty commander Prayag Manjhi, who were killed in a major encounter on Lugu Pahad in Bokaro on Monday. The postmortem was conducted on Tuesday morning under tight security at Chas Sub-Divisional Hospital by a four-member medical board.

Two Women, Six Men Killed — But No One Came

Despite being from nearby districts, none of the families of the deceased Naxals came forward to receive their bodies, indicating a strong sense of fear or complete severance from the outlawed individuals.

Major Blow to Maoists in Jharkhand

The joint operation by CRPF and Jharkhand Police was based on intelligence that a group of Maoists was planning a major attack. The encounter that followed in Gomia’s Lugu Pahad forest area saw the elimination of eight hardcore extremists.

List of Deceased Naxals:

Prayag Manjhi – Dalubudha, Tundi, Dhanbad (₹1 crore bounty) Arvind Yadav – Bhelwa Mohanpur, Sono, Jamui (Bihar) Saheb Ram Manjhi – Karando, Pirtand, Giridih Gangaram alias Pawan Langar – Khukhra, Giridih Mahesh Saw – Bariarpur Talo Di – Bandkharo, Nimiaghat, Giridih Mahesh Manjhi – Garando, Pirtand, Giridih Ranju Manjhi – Majhladih, Dumri, Giridih

Previous Encounter Linked to Same Zone

Just three months ago, two Maoists were neutralized in a similar gunbattle in Bokaro. That operation was triggered based on inputs from a previously arrested ₹15 lakh reward Maoist, whose wife was among those killed.

Aftermath and Security Measures

Following the operation, additional security forces have been deployed in Lugu-Buru and Jhumra Hills to prevent any retaliation. Arms, including an INSAS rifle and a self-loading rifle, were recovered from the site.
