Srinagar: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday declared that nuclear weapons are not safe in the hands of a rogue state like Pakistan. Speaking during his visit to Srinagar — the first since India’s massive counter-terror operation, Operation Sindoor — Singh asserted that while India does not advocate war, any attack on its sovereignty will be met with force.

Operation Sindoor is India’s Boldest Anti-Terror Strike

Calling it the “largest counter-terror operation in India’s history,” Singh said Operation Sindoor was launched after terrorists in Pahalgam killed civilians based on their religious identity. He praised the armed forces for their precise and bold action, which he said reflected India’s commitment to eliminating terrorism. “This is not just a military response, it is our Indian Dharma to erase terrorism at its roots,” Singh remarked.

He emphasized that India has endured cross-border terrorism for over four decades and made it clear that the country is now prepared to go to any extent to neutralize terror threats.

Pakistan’s Irresponsibility is a Global Threat

Singh directly questioned the global community: “Are nuclear weapons safe in the hands of an irresponsible and rogue nation like Pakistan?” He suggested that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal should be placed under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Defence Minister accused Pakistan of sheltering terrorist groups and using its territory to promote anti-India operations.

National Pride and Military Recognition

At the Srinagar Air Force base, Singh addressed Indian Air Force personnel who raised slogans of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” He said, “I may be your Defence Minister today, but first and foremost I am a citizen of this proud country. I am here to personally thank you on behalf of every Indian.” He commended the armed forces for executing Operation Sindoor with precision and for safeguarding national dignity.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were also present during Singh’s visit.
