New Delhi: The Congress has once again attacked the Modi government, alleging that India lost fighter jets during Operation Sindoor due to political restrictions that stopped the Air Force from fully targeting Pakistani military sites. Congress cited statements allegedly made by Navy officer Captain Shiv Kumar at an event in Indonesia, claiming the Air Force lost jets while striking terror bases.

Navy Officer’s Comment And Embassy Clarification

According to Congress, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan had also earlier acknowledged the loss of jets during Operation Sindoor. The party demanded that Prime Minister Modi call an all-party meeting to reveal the facts, accusing him of hiding the truth and rejecting calls for a special Parliament session to discuss the ceasefire and related decisions.

The controversy began after Captain Shiv Kumar reportedly said in Jakarta that India’s Air Force lost fighter jets to Pakistani air defences during a May 7 mission because political leaders ordered restraint and prevented strikes on military installations. He added that after initial losses, India changed its strategy, destroyed enemy air defences and launched successful BrahMos missile strikes.

Indian Embassy Reacts To Political Storm

Amid the uproar, the Indian Embassy in Jakarta clarified Captain Kumar’s remarks were taken out of context and misrepresented in media reports. In a statement on X, the embassy said the officer was simply explaining that India’s armed forces operate under civilian democratic leadership, which is the strength of the nation’s democratic tradition.
