New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday led the nation in celebrating National Doctor’s Day, extending his heartfelt greetings to the medical fraternity for their selfless service and dedication. The day, which honours the legacy of the renowned physician and former West Bengal Chief Minister Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, is being observed this year with the poignant theme, “Behind the Mask: Who Heals the Healers?”, focusing on the well-being of the doctors themselves.
Pillars of Humanity, Protectors of Health
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi lauded the medical community for their invaluable role in society. “Best wishes to all hardworking doctors on #DoctorsDay. Our doctors have made a mark for their dexterity and diligence. Equally notable is their spirit of compassion. They are truly protectors of health and pillars of humanity,” he stated. The Prime Minister also highlighted their “exceptional” contribution to strengthening India’s healthcare infrastructure and recalled his recent ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode where he referred to doctors as the protectors of our health.
Selfless Service of Society’s True Heroes
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda also expressed his gratitude, calling doctors the “true heroes of our society.” He praised their round-the-clock dedication that brings hope and saves countless lives. “In every health emergency, you have stood tall at the frontlines, driven by compassion and an unshakable sense of duty. Your care, courage, and sacrifice make you the true heroes of our society,” Nadda said in his message, extending his wishes to all healthcare workers paving the way for a ‘Swasth Bharat’.
