Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday over his claims of voter fraud in Maharashtra, calling them baseless and false. Fadnavis asserted that no vote theft has taken place in Maharashtra or anywhere else in the country.

“Rahul Gandhi Is Spreading Lies”

Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s press conference earlier in the day, Fadnavis said, “Rahul Gandhi is repeatedly lying. He is giving misleading statements about voter list manipulations and vote theft in Maharashtra and Karnataka.” Gandhi had also questioned the Election Commission and raised concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar.

Fadnavis Questions Rahul’s Figures

Taking a jibe at the Congress MP, Fadnavis remarked, “Earlier he claimed that 75 lakh new voters were added in Maharashtra, and now he says it’s 1 crore. He is lying to justify his party’s defeat. He knows Congress has lost its relevance.”

“Public Will Teach Him a Lesson”

Fadnavis dismissed all allegations and said, “I completely reject Rahul’s accusations. He is tarnishing the image of our constitutional institutions. The public will teach him a lesson in the upcoming elections.”

Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi claimed in his press conference that massive voter additions were noticed before the Maharashtra Assembly elections. “In just five months, more voters were added than in the last five years,” he said. Gandhi alleged that in some areas, the number of voters even exceeded the population figures and that an unusual surge in voting was recorded after 5 PM on polling day.

Collapse of INDIA Bloc in State Elections

Gandhi expressed concern over the INDIA bloc’s performance, saying, “We won significantly in the Lok Sabha polls just months ago, but were wiped out in the Assembly elections. This raises suspicion.”

Renewed Attack on the Election Commission

Gandhi also reiterated his stance against the Election Commission, saying that there is public distrust regarding fake voting and that evidence of vote theft exists.
