Ranchi: Traffic police have imposed a fine of ₹1000 on car owner Anil Kumar Singh for a helmet violation, despite the offence being linked to a scooter. A challan was issued, instructing him to pay the penalty amount.

Challan Sent With Scooter Image

On August 5, the traffic police sent a challan to Singh’s mobile number, including a picture of a scooter rider without a helmet. The scooter displayed the registration number JH01DK4143 — which, according to the Government of India’s portal, belongs to Singh’s car. The car was registered on March 29, 2019.

Owner Files Complaint With Police

Claiming that his car had no connection with the violation, Singh lodged a complaint with the police to address the incorrect issuance of the challan. Authorities are yet to clarify how the number plate mismatch occurred.
