India Warns Pakistan Over Reckless Nuclear Threats by Asim Munir

New Delhi: India strongly condemned recent remarks by Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir, calling them “reckless” nuclear threats aimed at diverting attention from Pakistan’s internal failures. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) warned that any misadventure would result in “painful consequences,” referencing the strong military response India delivered during the May standoff following Pakistan’s drone and missile attack.

MEA Slams War-Mongering Rhetoric

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal accused Islamabad of using anti-India rhetoric to mask its domestic shortcomings. He labelled Munir’s warning, reportedly made during a US visit, as “nuclear sabre-rattling” and a threat to both regional and global security. The ministry also criticised Pakistan’s military establishment for being “hand-in-glove with terrorist groups,” raising doubts over the safety of its nuclear arsenal, and condemned the choice of making such remarks from the soil of a friendly third country.

Pakistan’s Response and Escalating Tensions

Pakistan’s foreign ministry defended Munir’s statement, insisting that the country’s nuclear policy is under full civilian control and exercised with restraint. It warned of an “immediate and matching response” to any Indian aggression. Reports also claim Munir threatened to target industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s Jamnagar refinery during a private event in the US. India reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding national security and vowed to continue taking necessary measures to protect its sovereignty.
