Ranchi: Former Chief Minister Champai Soren has launched a sharp attack on the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government over its decision to provide ₹5,000 in financial assistance to the families of patients who die during treatment at RIMS. He questioned the morality of fixing a monetary value to the lives of the poor.
Decision Taken In RIMS Governing Council Meeting
The RIMS Governing Council, in a meeting held on Thursday, decided that families of deceased patients will receive ₹5,000 as immediate financial aid through UPI, ensuring quick disbursement. This move was intended to support bereaved families in emergency situations.
Champai Soren’s Strong Reaction
Reacting to the decision on social media, Champai Soren wrote, “Congratulations! The Jharkhand government has fixed the price of the lives of the poor who seek treatment at RIMS. Tell me, what will you do with such a huge amount? Shameless government.” His statement reflects growing criticism of the state for allegedly prioritising token compensation over systemic healthcare reforms.
