Ranchi: Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Jharkhand still has 608 roads pending construction, with 60 projects yet to be awarded. Out of the total 8,451 roads planned under PMGSY in the state, 7,843 have been completed so far.

Slow Progress in 2025–26 Financial Year

Delays in Extremism-Affected Areas

In areas affected by extremism, PMGSY includes 303 road projects. Of these, 243 have been completed, while construction on 60 roads remains pending. One project is yet to be awarded. Meanwhile, all 300 roads planned under the PM Janman Yojana have been completed.

Between 2019–20 and 2023–24, the state aimed to construct 10,060 kilometres of rural roads but managed to complete only 6,898 kilometres. A total of 3,162 kilometres remain unfinished.
