Jamshedpur: XLRI – Xavier School of Management, India’s oldest business school, reaffirmed its legacy of ethical education and social impact through two major initiatives — Reflections 2025, organised by Samarthya – The Human Potential Centre of XLRI, and Daan Utsav 2025, led by Team SIGMA-oikos. Both events celebrated XLRI’s vision of “For the Greater Common Good,” uniting academia and compassion-driven action.
Reflections 2025: “AI Pathshaala” Inspires Ethical Thinking in Young Minds
Held on November 2, 2025, Reflections 2025 marked the first on-campus edition of this flagship conference. More than 220 students from seven Jamshedpur schools — including DSM School for Excellence, Guru Nanak High School, and Ramakrishna Mission School — participated in discussions centered around the theme “AI Pathshaala.”
The event featured a keynote session by Dr. Harshit Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor of Information Systems, who spoke on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in education. A unique inter-school storytelling competitionchallenged students to blend creativity with AI ethics, with Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Ramakrishna Mission School, and JUSCO Kadma winning top honors. The event underscored Samarthya’s mission to foster ethical leadership and self-awareness among students.
Daan Utsav 2025: Spreading the Joy of Giving
From October 24–31, 2025, XLRI’s Daan Utsav 2025 brought together faculty, students, and staff in acts of generosity that impacted thousands of lives. The week-long event raised ₹2.1 lakh through the Wish Tree Initiative — a 61% increase from last year — and collected over 30,500 clothes via a donation drive. Funds and materials will benefit NGOs such as Utthaan, People for Change, and ALIG, supporting causes like transgender empowerment and food distribution.
Additional activities included menstrual awareness drives, first-aid training, digital literacy sessions, and the Gift of Time volunteer initiative with local old-age homes. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Fr. Donald D’Silva, S.J.emphasized, “True leadership lies in service. Every small act of kindness creates ripples of hope.” Chief Guest Smt. Smitha Pankaj (IFS) praised the students’ compassion and proposed symbolic tree plantations to mark their lasting contribution.
