Ayodhya: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hoisted the sacred saffron flag atop the Ram Mandir, marking the completion of the temple’s construction. The ceremonial Dhwajarohan unfolded on the auspicious Panchami of Shukla Paksha, celebrated as the divine Vivah Panchami of Shri Ram and Maa Sita.
The Ceremony And Symbolism
The PMO described the flag as a right-angled triangular saffron banner, 10 feet high and 20 feet long, carrying the image of a radiant Sun, the sacred ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree — symbols representing valour, purity, and eternal spiritual heritage. Installed on the temple’s Nagara-style shikhar, the flag signifies dignity, unity, and the ideals of Ram Rajya.
Prime Minister Modi, joined by RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, performed rituals including aarti and prayers at the Ram Lalla Garbh Grah. Ahead of the ceremony, he held a roadshow across Ayodhya, greeted by thousands of devotees.
A Deeply Spiritual Day For Ayodhya
The Prime Minister also visited Saptmandir — housing shrines of revered sages including Vashishtha, Vishwamitra, Agastya, Valmiki, and others — followed by darshan at Sheshavtar Mandir and the Mata Annapurna temple.
The date carried layered spiritual significance: apart from Vivah Panchami, it marked the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, who meditated in Ayodhya for 48 hours in the 17th century.
The newly completed temple complex features 87 stone-carved Ramayana episodes adorning the sanctum walls and 79 bronze cultural depictions along the Parkota, offering a rich educational experience to visitors.
Massive Security And Arrangements
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed preparations on-site. Ayodhya was placed under ultra-high security, deploying 6,970 personnel, including ATS commandos, NSG snipers, cyber teams, and anti-drone units. Advanced surveillance systems monitored the temple complex and surrounding areas to ensure seamless protection throughout the event.
Senior police officials coordinated all field-level operations, ensuring smooth movement of devotees and dignitaries during this landmark spiritual and cultural celebration.
