New Delhi: Superstar Prabhas’ much-awaited film The Raja Saab was released in cinemas on January 9, with massive excitement among Telugu audiences, while the initial response in the Hindi market appears comparatively modest.
Box Office Expectations Ride on Telugu Market
The Raja Saab marks Prabhas’ first foray into the horror-comedy genre. The film is expected to gain maximum traction in Telugu-speaking regions on day one, whereas its performance in the Hindi belt will largely depend on word-of-mouth. The postponement of Thalapathy Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan has also reduced competition, giving The Raja Saab a clear window at the box office.
Advance Booking Sees Sharp Surge
Directed by Maruti, the film is mounted on an estimated budget of around ₹300 crore. Although the initial buzz softened due to limited promotions and a potential clash with Vijay’s film, the delay of the latter and legal hurdles led to a sharp rise in advance bookings. According to Sacnilk, the film registered a gross advance booking of ₹15.31 crore across five languages before release, with 5.62 lakh tickets sold. After factoring in block bookings, the total advance collection climbed to ₹28.09 crore, though the Hindi version contributed only ₹1.18 crore.
Opening Day Collection Prediction
Backed by Prabhas’ star power, a wide release, and increased ticket prices in the Telugu market, The Raja Saab is projected to earn a net ₹55–60 crore across all languages on its opening day. The Telugu version is expected to dominate the earnings, while the Hindi dubbed version is likely to collect around ₹5–7 crore on day one.
