New Delhi: In view of the deteriorating security situation in Iran due to ongoing violent protests, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a fresh advisory urging all Indian nationals in the country to return to India at the earliest.
MEA Issues Strong Travel Advisory
During its weekly briefing on Friday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that around 9,000 Indian citizens are currently residing in Iran, a majority of whom are students. He emphasized that the safety and security of Indian nationals remains the government’s top priority.
No Travel to Iran Permitted
The ministry has strongly advised Indians currently outside Iran to avoid travelling to the country until further notice. Given the prevailing situation, authorities are not permitting any fresh travel by Indian citizens to Iran.
Rising Security Concerns
According to the MEA, the situation in Iran has been worsening steadily over the past few days. Multiple advisories have already been issued, asking Indian nationals to make arrangements for an early return. The government is closely monitoring developments and coordinating measures to ensure the safe exit of its citizens.
Students Among the Most Affected
With students forming a large part of the Indian population in Iran, the advisory has heightened concern among families back home. The MEA has reiterated that all necessary assistance will be provided to facilitate a safe return.
