Ranchi: A high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri was held at the Ranchi Collectorate to formulate strategies for increasing the district’s own revenue, with officials from transport, mining, revenue, and other departments in attendance.
Focus on Strengthening Revenue Sources
During the meeting, officials reviewed major revenue streams including stamp duty, registration fees, mining royalty, vehicle tax, market fees, water tax, and property tax. The discussion centered on improving collection efficiency and plugging leakages to ensure higher and more consistent revenue inflow, which the Deputy Commissioner said would accelerate development work and improve public services.
Clear Department-Wise Instructions Issued
The Deputy Commissioner directed the registration department to promote maximum use of digital registration systems and closely monitor suspicious transactions. The mining department was instructed to intensify action against illegal mining and strengthen royalty collection. The transport department was asked to ensure proper vehicle tax recovery and reinforce the e-challan system.
Market Fees, Property Tax, and Digital Payments Emphasised
Authorities were advised to ensure transparent collection of market fees at market and panchayat levels. For property tax and water tax, surveys were ordered to identify defaulters and initiate recovery action. The administration also decided to promote online and digital payments and form a dedicated monitoring team to track revenue growth.
Monthly Review and Accountability Framework
Deputy Commissioner Bhajantri instructed all departments to prepare clear action plans, complete assigned tasks on time, and submit monthly progress reports. He stressed that systematic monitoring and accountability would directly contribute to faster development and better civic amenities for residents.
