New Delhi: In a pointed statement today, Rahul Gandhi told reporters outside Parliament that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi attends the session, he will gift him a book written by former Army Chief General MM Naravane. Emphasizing the significance of the book, Rahul Gandhi said, “This is not written by any opposition leader or foreign author—it’s written by a former Chief of Army Staff.”
Book Details PM’s Lack of Action During Chinese Incursion
Referring to revelations in the book, Rahul alleged that during a critical time when Chinese troops entered Indian territory, the Prime Minister reportedly told the Army Chief, “Do whatever you think is appropriate,” essentially shirking political responsibility.
“Political Leadership Abandoned the Army”
Gandhi quoted Naravane’s reflections from the book, stating that the Army leadership felt abandoned by the political establishment at a crucial juncture. “This is why I’m not allowed to speak in Parliament,” Rahul said. “The country is asking questions, and the government is running away from answers.”
Book ‘Missing’ from Cabinet’s Radar
He expressed surprise that the book isn’t being acknowledged by Cabinet ministers. “The truth is inconvenient, and that’s why there’s silence,” Rahul claimed.
Continued Tensions in Parliament
His remarks come amidst growing opposition protests in Parliament, with Rahul accusing the Modi government of suppressing facts about national security failures.
