Ranchi Traffic Police Issue 30,420 Challans in First Six Days of June in Ongoing Crackdown

Ranchi: The Ranchi Traffic Police’s special enforcement drive against traffic rule violators is in full swing, with a total of 30,420 challans issued under the Motor Vehicles Act between June 1 and June 6, 2026. On June 6 alone, intensive vehicle checking drives were conducted across various police station areas under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), resulting in 3,785 challans being issued in a single day.

No Helmet and Illegal Parking Top the Violations

Of the 3,785 challans issued on June 6, the highest number of actions — 2,082 — were taken against riders without helmets. No parking and illegal roadside parking violations accounted for 1,176 challans, while 197 drivers were caught jumping red lights.

Other Major Violations Recorded

Additional violations recorded on June 6 included over-speeding with 56 cases, wrong-side driving with 48, no-entry violations with 44, overloading of passengers with 37, driving without a licence with 24, riding without uniform with 23, pillion ride violations with 23, black film with 8, fancy number plates with 7, no seat belt with 7, no insurance with 6, tow vehicle violations with 6, pressure horn with 5, no pollution certificate with 4, triple riding with 2, and drunk driving with 2 cases.

Appeal to Road Users

The Traffic Police have appealed to all vehicle users to wear helmets, fasten seat belts, obey red lights, and park only at designated locations to ensure road safety and avoid penalties.
