New Delhi: A fresh twist has emerged in the Lohagad Fort murder case, with investigators revealing that accused Siya Goyal allegedly killed her fiance Ketan Agarwal to buy time with her lover Chetan Chaudhary, who had asked her to wait at least three years before marriage to settle his career.
Motive: Three Years of Freedom
According to sources, Siya’s wedding to Ketan was already arranged and scheduled for November. Since Chetan had asked for three years before they could marry, the two allegedly conspired to eliminate Ketan. With Ketan dead, Siya’s family would have been in mourning for years, giving her the freedom to live independently while Chetan focused on his career — after which the two planned to marry each other.
Murder Planned Since February, Crime Rehearsed at Fort
The investigation revealed that the conspiracy was being hatched as early as February this year. The accused had reportedly searched online for ways to kill, and visited Lohagad Fort near Pune in Maharashtra beforehand to rehearse the crime. They had also prepared and practised their responses to police in case they were caught.
First Attempt Failed, Second Succeeded
On June 14, Siya took Ketan to the fort and pushed him, but he survived by grabbing onto a bush on the cliffside. To cover her tracks, Siya created a distraction by screaming about a fake snake sighting and then embraced him. She then convinced Ketan to visit the fort again, this time with Chetan also present, and the pair allegedly pushed him from behind into the gorge, killing him.
Phones Wiped, Plan C Also in Place
The accused had systematically deleted their entire phone chat history and recycle bins before and after the crime. Their phones have been sent to a forensic laboratory to retrieve deleted chat logs. Case files also revealed that the duo had a backup plan in case their primary scheme failed.
