Ranchi, Aug.7: In a meeting held at the residence of School Education and Literacy Minister Jagarnath Mahto with the representatives of para teachers’ union it was decided in principle that para teachers of the state will get the same honorarium and facilities which their counterparts in Bihar are getting.

The final decision will be taken in the matter after a meeting of the minister with officers of the education and law departments on coming Wednesday and then another meeting on August 18 with officers and representatives of the para teachers’ union.

On May 8, Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra had raised the issue alleging Chief Minister Hemant Soren of working only in the interest of a particular community.

Her reaction came after the CM approved Rs 55.80 crore for extension of service and salary of Urdu teachers deputed at primary schools. She said at the time the state is struggling with ventilator operators, doctors, nurses, oxygen and medicines in hospitals, and the CM is worried about Urdu teachers only.

She questioned if the CM is worried about Urdu teachers and what problem he has with teachers and para teachers of upgraded high schools whose issue of pension and salary is still under consideration of the state government.
