Ranchi, Aug.10: Former captain of Indian Women Hockey Team and coach of Indian Hockey Team of junior girls, Asunta Lakra on the occasion of World Indigenous Day remained present as chief guest in a programme organised by Jharkhand Tribal Advocates Association.

It was a special occasion for the tribal advocates who shared their view for the development of the tribes in the presence of a hockey star, who was also happy to find them with the majority of budding law talents of the state having no connection with hockey.

Association president Mansa Lakra stressed the need for more tribal advocates in the state to handle the legal issues of the poor losing their land and property and getting trapped in legal fights with highhanded people. He said that new tribal talents should be hunted out to strengthen the legal fraternity.

Subhash Soren was of the view that more than tribal talents coming in judicial services should be trained enough to join judicial service and become good lawyers to provide legal assistance to the needy and strengthen those who are at receiving end to lack of legal assistance.

Prominent tribal lawyers present on the occasion included  Jayant Franklin Toppo, Subhasish Rasik Soren, Mahendra Peter Tigga, Saurabh Vishal Samad, Uttam Kujur besides others.
