The Dhanbad District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to launch the Mask-up Campaign from Monday ( August 16) in which maskless people at a crowded public place would be picked up and kept at Govindpur block-based Jharkhand Armed Police-3 (JAP) for sensitization.
Dhanbad deputy commissioner (DC) cum DDM chairman Sandeep Kumar said that for checking Corona infection, the Mask-up Campaign would be launched at public places from Monday across the district for awareness of people about the danger of Covid. “ A decision has been taken for ensuring proper use of mask, social distancing at public places as per guidelines of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). If anyone is caught violating guidelines he/she would be picked up and kept at JAP-3 camp Govindpur for sensitization,” said the DC.
Dhanbad is the first district in the state that has announced to launch of such a sensitization camp to pre-empt the third wave of Corona.
For enforcing the guidelines the DDMA has set up two flying squads to carry out campaigns at crowded public places. After nabbing the violator of guidelines ( without mask) the flying squad would immediately take him to the Sensitization camp and keep him till 4 pm. Before sensitization, he/she will undergo a Covid test.
The DC said the flying squad under a magistrate with bus and police including women force would move in crowded public places from 8 am to 12 noon daily to keep watch on violators. “At the sensitization camp, medical team, ambulance, first aid kit, and essential medicines have been arranged to cater to the requirement,” he added.
“ Though the Covid case is under control in the district, the mask-up campaign would help in keeping people alert about the danger of a pandemic,” Sandeep Singh said.
