BBM College Baliapur, an affiliated college of BBMKU, has issued a notice that only those examines who have a certificate of taking both the doses of Covid vaccination would be allowed entry in the examination hall.
UG semester-6 examination of BBMKU Dhanbad is scheduled from August 23. Around 26,000 students would be taking the examination. BBM College Baliapur has been made a home centre for students.
The BBM College principal, in his notice, has said that in the wake of Corona infection danger, a certificate of vaccination and mask have been made mandatory for examiners as well as examinees.
The examinees have strongly protested the notice saying that due to a shortage of vaccination most of them have not been administered so far. Moreover, no other college of BBMKU Dhanbad as well as other universities in the state has issued such a diktat for examinees. If an examinee is stopped in name of a vaccination certificate at any centre of the university, others will be forced to boycott.
BBMKU examination controller Suman Kumar Barnbal told media persons that the university has not issued any directive to the examination centre superintendent to stop any examines from taking examinations in absence of a vaccination certificate. “ Only advice has been issued to ensure implementation of Covid guidelines,” he said.
However, BBM College Baliapur principal Saroj Kumar Sinha said that he has just followed the guidelines of UGC. “A notice has been issued for the safety of students. Examinees would have to follow the guidelines of wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and other safety measures at the examination hall,” he said.
On the other hand, the examinees opposing the notice said that from the safety point of view a vaccination certificate is a good step but the college should have issued an order earlier so that students could have taken it well before examinations.
