Jamshedpur, Sept 6: South Eastern Railway through two separate notifications announced the restoration of several special trains which had stopped operation during the peak second wave of Covid-19.
The 02829/02830 Howrah-Tatanagar Special ( Steel Express) and 08627/08628 Howrah-Ranchi Intercity Special will resume operation from September 7, Tuesday.
The Howrah-Tatanagar Special will leave Howrah daily at 5.25 pm and will arrive Tatanagar at 9.20 pm the same day.
In the return direction, 02830 Tatanagar-Howrah Special will depart from Tatanagar at 6.10 am daily and will arrive Howrah at 10.20 am the same day.
The Howah-Ranchi Special which is a tri-weekly train will leave Howrah every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at 12.50 pm and will arrive in Ranchi at 10.15 am the same day.
In the opposite direction, 08628 Ranchi-Howrah Special will depart from Ranchi at 5.40 am every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and will arrive in Howrah at 3.10 pm the same day
Apart from this the 02021/02022 Howrah-Barbil Jan Shatabdi Special will resume journey from September 12. The train will run via Tatanagar railway station.
The Howrah-Barbil Jan Shatabdi Special will leave Howrah daily at 6.20 am and will arrive Barbil at 12. 55 pm the same day.
In the return direction, 02022 Barbil-Howrah Special will depart from Barbil at 1. 45 pm daily and will arrive Howrah at 7.55pm the same day.
The train will have four AC chair cars and 14 non -AC chair car coaches. The 08019/08020 Jhargram-Dhanbad- MEMU Special will resume services from tomorrow.
The 08019 Jhargram-Dhanbad MEMU Special will leave Jhargram daily at 6.00 am and will arrive at Dhanbad at 1.45 pm the same day.
In the return direction, 08020 Dhanbad-Jhargram MEMU Special will depart from Dhanbad at 2.15 pm daily and will arrive Jhargram at 9.15 pm the same day.
A spokesperson of South Eastern Railway said that a decision for restoration of the trains was taken keeping in view the demand of passengers and declining cases of Covid-19.
He went on to say that the trains were withdrawn in May this year during the peak third wave of Covid-19 which resulted in a drastic fall in seat occupancy.
