Ranchi, Sept.10: The body of a 35-yr-old youth, Vimal Mahto, with its face smashed with stone was recovered from a coal dumping yard near Piska railway station under Nagri police station.
A locality resident informed that the body was noticed in the morning by a villager, who informed the police for proper legal action in the matter. So far it has not been clear that who committed the murder and what is the reason behind it.
Superintendent of police (rural) Naushad Alam confirmed the recovery saying a murder case was registered in this case. He said a suspect in the case has also been arrested.
Mahto was a farmer by profession and a resident of Naro village, about 16km from the Jharkhand capital. Asked about the reason behind the murder, S.P.(rural) Alam said the probe is on. “Till probe concludes it is difficult to give any conclusive statement in the matter,” he said.
Apart from Mahto, another male body was also recovered. It was identified as farmer Vinod Oraon (25), a resident of Pandu. His body was recovered at Bhoura Toli. No injury mark was found on his body. His wife suspected it was a case of murder.
When asked by S.P (rural) Alam regarding this, he did not support the suspicion saying ‘prima facie the case appears to be a matter of death due to excessive drinking.’ He, however, said that the ‘probe is on’.
