Tata Steel Jharia division commissions oxygen plant to combat Corona 3rd wave

Dhanbad, Sept 15: In order to combat the possible 3rd wave of Coronavirus, Tata Steel Jharia Division has commissioned state-of-the-art Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plant at Central Hospital, Jamadoba on Wednesday.
Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel while inaugurating the oxygen plant said that it has a capacity of 833-litre Per Minute (LPM) and is able to cater for the requirement of the coal belt patients in crisis.
Choudhary said the plant is spread in 400 sq ft area and has enough space for keeping filled and empty oxygen cylinders. “The PSA Oxygen Plant will not only make Tata Central Hospital Jamadoba a fully self-sufficient hospital in terms of medical oxygen supply but also enhance the medical facility by providing continuous oxygen support to 15 beds including 5 ICU beds and 10 beds of COVID-19 ward,” he said.
During the second spell of Coronavirus, Central Hospital Jamadoba of Tata Steel Jharia division had set up 16 beds for Covid-19 patients including five ICU and 11 general beds for specific treatment.
This is the first hospital in  Dhanbad to have set up a PSA oxygen plant. Though the district administration has also set up two 1000 LPM capacity plants at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (NMMCH) Saraidhela and Sadar hospital Dhanbad respectively, both the plants are yet to be made operational.
Dr Sudhir Rai, general manager (GM), medical services, Tata Steel; Dr Ranjan Choudhary, advisor, medical services; Sourav Roy, chief of corporate social responsibility (CSR); Sanjay Rajoria, general manager, Jharia Division; Dr Alok, chief medical officer, Jharia Division; Narendra Gupta, chief of Sijua Group, Jharia Division; Debashis Banerjee, chief human resource business partner, Jharia Division were also present on the occasion.
