Chatra, Sept.24: A fire broke out in Sadar Hospital’s maternity home at around 9 a.m. on Friday morning. People began to flee in various directions due to panic. The fire was eventually brought under control by a team of hospital management, police, and firefighters. If the flames had risen, a lot of harm could have been done.
The people present at the hospital were taken aback when they saw smoke billowing from the delivery residence. Some suspected that a patient’s family may have started a fire in order to cook breakfast. However, as the flames grew larger, the smoke grew thicker.
Dr. Shyam Nandan Singh, Civil Surgeon, got the information from a health worker. The in-charge of the Sadar police station was informed promptly by the civil surgeon. Murshid Alam, the hospital’s manager, arrived at the scene, along with Dr. Manish Lal and other officials and workers, and tried to control the fire. Meanwhile, the in-charge of the Sadar police station, Luv Kumar, arrived at the hospital with fire trucks and employees and began putting out the fire.
According to hospital officials, the fire may have started as a result of a short circuit. However, the promptness of the medical personnel led to little damage. However, numerous pieces of equipment and documents were still burned to ashes. After a half-hour fight, the fire was brought totally under control. The cause of the fire, according to the Civil Surgeon, could not be determined with certainty. The potential of a short circuit, however, cannot be ruled out. He stated that the situation is being looked into. The extent of the fire’s damage is now being assessed.
