Ranchi, Sept.25: Morning patrolling of the city police has come under the scanner of city residents as a 60-yr-old morning walker, Sabra Khatoon, became a victim of snatching near Imambara in Firdaus Nagar under Doranda police station area in the heart of Jharkhand capital.
It was getting around 7 am when the snatcher sitting on a bike came and snatched her gold chain and an ear ring worth Rs 95,000 before she could realise who came closer to her and raised an alarm.
A locality resident informed this saying that the place where the incident took place is close to the registry office. “The miscreant was riding a black bike. He was a pillion rider,” the resident said, expressing his concern over the incident.
A locality resident said it is the result of poor patrolling. “If the patrolling had been done properly such an incident would not have taken place. It is a matter of concern that such an incident took place despite the city being under electronic surveillance,” the resident said.
Contacted S.P.(city) Saurabh Kumar for his comment he rubbished the allegation of poor patrolling saying that the police are on the job.
“Our patrolling is properly going on. The incident took place in the morning. It is in our knowledge and we are on the job,” Kumar said.
The incident where the snatching took place is hardly one kilometre from the spot where a murder was committed recently in broad daylight following a land dispute and later the police arrested all the accused involved in the incident.
