Ranchi, Sept.30: The body of a girl, identified as a student of St Xavier’s College, Vinita Kumari, was found on the ground adjacent to a 15-story building under construction behind the vegetable market under Lalpur police station area in the heart of the city.

A local resident said the girl jumped from the under-construction building, but police, however, refused to comment on the matter.

“How can we comment whether she jumped or someone pushed her? The matter is being probed. It will take some time to come to clarity,” said S.P. (city) Saurabh Kumar.

Asked to confirm the identity, he said: “Identification is yet to be ascertained to give any conclusive statement on the matter.”

The body was sent for autopsy at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Officer-in-charge of Lalpur police station Rajeev Kumar said the matter will be clear once workers working at the site will share something with the police.
