Six involved in theft of piped petroleum arrested in Simdega

Ranchi, Oct.4: Police in Simdega arrested six for the theft of piped petroleum of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL).

Those arrested included three from West Bengal– Palas Naskar, Abiruddin Mandal and Chotu Dhara, two from Odisha–  Suryanarayan Mahto and Jagaranath Baraik, and one from Jharkhand Suraj Sahu.

One tanker, generator, pipe, drill machine and cutter besides other equipment kept to collect petrol after drilling holes in the gas pipeline were recovered from their possession.

The GAIL pipeline from Paradip passes through Bansjore, Jaldega, Kolebira, Bano, and Mahabuang area of Simdega district. Police in the district had been getting information regarding the theft of petrol from the company’s underground pipe and finally caught the members of an interstate gang involved in the theft.

Simdega SP Shams Tabrez informed this saying the criminal history of those arrested is being collected with the help of Odisha and West Bengal police.
