Ranchi, Oct.4: Expressing its solidarity with farmers agitating for the abolition of three ‘black’ farms laws formulated by the Narendra Modi government, the JMM condemned the incident of killing of four agitating farmers by the vehicles allegedly being driven by the son of union minister of state for home Ajay Misra at Lakhimpur in UP.

JMM spokesperson and general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya condemned the incident organising a press conference at the party office in Bariatu saying after more than 24 hours of registration of the FIR in this connection neither the union minister of state has been dropped from the cabinet nor has his son been arrested.

“The Union minister of state had said a few days ago that he will crush the agitation of farmers and take the words literally that his son knocked down farmers,” JMM spokesperson Bhattacharya said.

Terming the continuation of Mishra as union home minister of state, Bhattacharya said ‘it is being done to appease Brahmins.’

The UP government did not allow flights of two UPA-supported chief ministers to land at Lucknow airport after the incident. Bhattacharya said it was ‘anti-democratic’ and an indication of autocracy. He also expressed his concern over the silence of the prime minister and the home minister on the incident.
