Jamshedpur, Oct 9: Coronavirus positive cases seem to have begun rising once again in the steel city leading the district health department authority to decide for watching the trend of three more days to determine whether the Covid-19 pandemic’s third wave has hit the city or not.

During the past 24 hours, nine Coronavirus positive cases have been detected from the city, making the total number of Covid-19 cases in the past eight days to 43.

“Coronavirus positive cases are increasing rapidly in the steel city again. We will watch the trend of the killer virus for three more days. If the number of positive cases continues to rise we will have to assume that the third wave of the pandemic has hit the city, ” said Sahir Pall, Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) officer.

He pointed out that those who are being tested positive include the ones already vaccinated — fully or partially, but only plus point in the fresh spell of the pandemic is the patients are not suffering from severity.

Pall said on Thursday nine positive cases, including that of two children, had been reported from the city. On Friday nine more cases have been reported though no child being included in a lot of fresh cases.

“With the Puja coming closer, detection of more and more Coronavirus positive cases is definitely a cause of concern for all of us. The Puja revelry can be there with the traditional gaity but the people should follow the appropriate Covid behavior while participating in the celebrations, ” the IDSP officer said.

Pall stated that if the number of Coronavirus positive cases continue to rise in the next three days, then the administration will have to follow some stricter measure so as to curb the spread of the virus which is affecting the people of all age groups, considering the trend that of the third wave of the pandemic here.

In the whole September month, the number of daily detection of the positive cases was confined to a maximum of two, thus making the total number of the Coronavirus positive cases in the previous month to 50 only. But the number of positive cases reported within the past eight days of October has reached 43.

Positive cases are being reported from all localities of the city, including the posh Bistupur area.
