Lohardaga JAP personnel drowns in Bansloi River in Pakur

Dhanbad, Oct 16:  A personnel of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) identified as Jitendra Lohra (22) drowned in Bansloi River under Maheshpur police station, around 32.3 km away from Pakur district headquarters on Saturday.

A police official said that Jitendra Lohra along with other three JAP personnel had gone to bathe in the nearby Bansloi River in the morning. In course of bathing, he drowned in the deep water. His colleagues at first assumed that he got dipped in water. But when he did not come up after a few minutes, they began searching for him.

Jitendra was dragged out from the water after three hours with the help of villagers. Police Inspector Umashankar and Maheshpur police station officer-in-charge Sunil Kumar Ravi, who were monitoring the rescue operation, brought Jitendra Lohra to Maheshpur community health centre (CHC). Doctors referred him to Sadar hospital where he was declared brought dead.

On receiving the information, Pakur Superintendent of Police (SP) HP Janardan also reached the hospital and ordered a probe into the incident.

The Maheshpur police station officer-in-charge told media that Jitendra Lohra was posted in Lohardaga JAP. At present, he was getting training at Sahebganj district JAP centre. On the occasion of Durga Puja, Jitendra along with 20 other JAP personnel was deployed in Pakur as an additional force.

“All 20 JAP personnel were statying at Garhbadi High School building near the bank of Bansloi River. Today morning, Jitendra along with three other personnel Brajesh Kumar, Vikram Singh and Satish Sahu had gone for a bath in the river. In course of bathing he slipped in a deep ditch as reported. At first, his colleagues searched themselves. But later called for help as they couldn’t find him,” he said.

Pakur district headquarters informed that Jitendra Lohra had been appointed in JAP on a compassionate ground in 2018.
