Tea-coffee Board to be formed in Chhattisgarh, Plan to cultivate 20 thousand acres in three years, says CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur, Oct 17: After the initial success of tea and coffee cultivation in some hilly areas of Chhattisgarh, there is a preparation for large scale cultivation and marketing. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has decided to form Chhattisgarh Tea-Coffee Board under the chairmanship of Agriculture Minister. The Industries Minister will be the vice-chairman of the Chhattisgarh Tea Coffee Board. The government has set a target of cultivating tea and coffee in 10,000 acres in the next three years.

Apart from the Chief Minister, two special members including Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Managing Director of Industries Development Corporation, one officer each from Agro-Horticulture and Forest Department will also be included in the Tea Coffee Board.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that Chhattisgarh Tea Coffee Board is being formed to give maximum benefit to the local farmers and to promote tea-coffee cultivation in the state.

He said that a target has been set to cultivate tea and coffee in at least 10-10 thousand acres in the next three years. The farmers doing farming will also be given the benefit of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. That is, they will be given a cash assistance of 9 thousand rupees per acre.

Officials said that the Horticulture and Industries Department will play an important role in tea-coffee production and marketing. For this technical guidance will be taken from reputed institutes of national level. In addition to this, the help of private sector experts, investors and consultants will also be taken.
