Dumka, Oct 29: The CPI (M) has resolved to launch a country-wide stir to protest the National Monetisation Policy (NMP) to undo the move of the central government to sell out public sector assets.

Party’s politburo member and Rajya Sabha MP Brinda Karat today hit out at the national monetization policy announced by the central government claiming it would prove disastrous for the country.

Karat was addressing the party cadres at Indoor stadium here on the first day of the three-day state-level conference of the CPI (M) when she said that the left parties would vehemently oppose the move by launching a countrywide stir.

“The aim of the national monetisation policy is to sell out valuable public assets to the country’s and foreigner industrial giants at a throwaway amount,” Karat alleged adding that only the unity of leftwing parties could pose a serious resistance to undo the move.

The central government is to fetch Rs 6 lakh crore by selling out assets of different public sector companies which Karat said was even more valuable at the current cost.

“Under no circumstances, we will allow the NMP to be executed by the central government which, in turn, will ruin the national economy apart from dragging the common people in the state of acute penury,” Karat stated.

Another Politburo member Mohammed Saleem, party MLA Vinod Singh, state secretary Gopikant Bakshi were other prominent leaders to have addressed the open session of the conference presided over by Subhash Hembrom.
