Mumbai, Nov 2: After the arrest of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, now another central agency seems to be tightening the noose around the current Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The Income-tax Department had seized assets worth over Rs 1,000 crore, allegedly linked to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his family members.

According to sources, five properties, including Nirmal Tower at Mumbai’s iconic Nariman Point, have been seized. In October, the IT department had also searched offices and residences of the promoters of Dynamix and DB Realty.

Earlier, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the recovery of Rs 100 crore and money laundering. The ED had called Anil Deshmukh for questioning on Monday and after questioning for more than 12 hours, the ED arrested Anil Deshmukh. According to sources, Anil Deshmukh could not give satisfactory answers to the questions of the ED and he is also accused of not cooperating in the investigation.
