New Delhi, Nov.3: The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday released data according to which India has reported 11,903 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of Covid-19 infections to 3,43,08,140, while the number of active cases fell to 1,51,209, the lowest in 252 days.

The death toll from Covid-19 rose to 4,59,191 with 311 new fatalities, according to Health Ministry figures updated at 8 a.m. For the previous 26 days, the daily increase in new Covid-19 cases has been fewer than 20,000, and for the past 129 days, it has been less than 50,000. The country’s active Covid-19 cases have dropped to 1,51,209, accounting for 0.44 percent of all infections, the lowest level since March 2020.

So far, India has given out more than 107.29 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccination. The inconsistent vaccination rate, on the other hand, remains a source of concern. According to the Union Health Ministry, over 71 percent of the eligible population has received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination and 35 percent having received all two doses.

A total of 48 districts have been identified as being behind schedule, with first-dose coverage remaining below 50%. According to data, the Northeast accounts for 27 of the 48 districts, with eight districts each in Manipur and Nagaland. Jharkhand has the most districts (9) with first-dose vaccination coverage < 50%.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a detailed review meeting with district Magistrates of over 40 districts in Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, and other States with inadequate vaccine coverage,” the Prime Minister’s Office stated on Tuesday. The CMs of these states will also attend the meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) at 12 p.m., according to the PMO. India has set a goal of vaccinating all of its eligible citizens with the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of the year.

In India, the Covid-19 crisis is under control. The war against Coronavirus, on the other hand, is far from ended. Coronavirus infections have begun to resurface in a number of nations in recent days. New instances have been recorded in the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, Singapore, Ukraine, and parts of Eastern Europe. According to WHO data, the United Kingdom saw a 14 percent increase in new infections, with 283,756 cases, followed by Russia with 217,322. For the first time since July 17, the UK saw over 50,000 cases; scientists blamed the Delta varient for the spike.
