New Delhi, Nov 3: Just ahead of  Diwali, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi reached the ‘very poor’ category on Wednesday, informed the Center-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).

The air quality over Delhi-NCT is likely to remain in the lower end of the ‘very poor’ categories on November 4, 2021, said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

SAFAR has also predicted that Delhi’s air quality may slip to the “severe” category on Diwali night. The share of stubble burning in its PM 2.5 Pollution may go up to 40 per cent the day after.

Meanwhile, Environment minister Gopal Rai has said that to prevent the pollution caused by firecrackers, Delhi Police and SDMs have been instructed to observe a 24-hour vigil, with special attention to the border area of Delhi.
