Jamshedpur, Nov 5: An NSG commando and his 27-year-old cousin were killed in a road mishap under Chaibasa mufassil thana area in West Singhbhum district about 62 kms from here late on Thursday night.

The commando Paresh Biruli (31) was riding a bike with his cousin brother Raja Tiu (27) sitting pillion through the flyover at about 11.30 pm when a truck dashed the bike, causing both of them to die on the spot.

A patrolling party found the mutilated bodies lying on the flyover in the wee hours on Friday and the mishap victims were identified this morning.

Biruli who was posted at New Delhi had come to his home at Diliamacha village in Sadar thana area of Chaibasa on three days leave on Thursday evening only.

West Singhbhum superintendent of police, Ajay Linda said they have informed the NSG headquarters in New Delhi about the commando’s accidental death.

“The local police have shifted both the bodies to the Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for postmortem. A team of NSG officials is on its way from New Delhi to Chaibasa to attend the funeral, “said Linda.

The SP said that the flyover known as JMP Bridge is used for the heavy vehicles movement and there is an under-bridge for the local commuters.

“It is not known exactly why the commando and his cousin preferred to pass through the flyover in such late hours as 11.30 p.m. whereas there is an easier way to negotiate through,” said the senior police officer.

He pointed out they are trying to detect the truck that fled the scene soon after the mishap.

Biruli was a father of two daughters, elder one seven-year-old.

The commando’s widow Suru Biruli who is posted as a program officer at Chaibasa in the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society said her husband had come to Chaibasa from New Delhi at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

“Having reached home, my husband bursted crackers along with the children for some time and having received a call from his cousin, he went away by riding his bike. Later, I knew that he was enjoying Diwali night along with his cousin, but after 11.30 pm his cell phone was unreachable. Finally, we learned about his death by the local police this morning only,“ narrated the widow while talking to the media.
