Porbandar, Nov.8: The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) was accused of firing at an Indian fisherman’s boat along the international maritime boundary line in the Arabian Sea off the Gujarat coast on Saturday evening that killed him.

Police at Porbandar Navi Bandar have filed a murder charge’ against ten Pakistani Navy soldiers. Dilip Natu Solanki, a fisherman who was injured in the event, has filed a police report.

Sridhar Ramesh Chamre, a 32-year-old fisherman from Thane, Maharashtra, was killed on the evening of November 7 after PMSA personnel opened fire on him and other crew members aboard the fishing boat ‘Jalpari.’

A minor injury was sustained by one of the seven crew members aboard the boat, and he is being treated at a hospital in Gujarat’s Okha.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) stated that one person was killed and another was injured in the Saturday shooting.

“The situation is currently being investigated by police, and the team is being interviewed together. Only after the inquiry is completed may details be revealed “It was stated in an official statement.

Following the event, India “took serious note” of the PMSA’s “unprovoked fire on an Indian fishing boat,” according to government sources, and chose to raise the issue diplomatically with Pakistan.

It is a blatant violation of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea to fire on traditional fishing boats.

Meanwhile, Pakistan claimed that the boat had “illegally transgressed” into its territorial seas, and that it had fired at the Indian vessel only after it ignored PMSA’s “warning.”

“Ships of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency attempted to intercept the trespassing boat, which did not respond or reverse course despite repeated warnings.” The Indian boat did not stop its engines when the PMSA ship fired warning bullets in its direction. PMSA then fired straight at the Indian boat, which came to a halt,” according to an official statement.

The remaining six persons onboard the boat have been taken into custody for interrogation, according to Pakistan’s statement.
