Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj awarded Padma Vibhushan, PV Sindhu gets Padma Bhushan

New Delhi, Nov 8: Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously on Monday. Sushma Swaraj’s daughter, Bansuri Swaraj received the award on her behalf.

Olympian badminton player PV Sindhu was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award.

President Ram Nath Kovind is presenting the awards in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. As many as 119 Padma Awards will be presented by President Ram Nath Kovind. The list comprises seven Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri Awards.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar among others were also present on the occasion.

Notably, Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honours of India announced annually on the eve of Republic Day.
